Mother’s Day 2018

Because my website mainly appeals to fellow mamas, I felt compelled to write a post that acknowledged how Mother’s Day can elicit a range of emotions.

On this day I want to acknowledge the experiences of women who:

  • Struggle with infertility
  • Have young children
  • Are foster moms
  • Have experienced miscarriage
  • Serve as “mom” for others
  • Have difficult or non-existent relationships with their children
  • Have had a failed adoption
  • Gave birth to their first child
  • Experienced the death of a child
  • Have close relationships with their children
  • Had an abusive mother
  • Are empty-nesters
  • Have a challenging child
  • No longer have their mother
  • Had an abortion
  • Step-moms
  • Are motherless by choice
  • Have teenagers
  • Have placed a child up for adoption
  • Are single and dream of becoming a mother

Whether Mother’s Day makes you happy, sad, angry, regretful, proud, lonely or a combination of these, I wanted to let you know that your experience is recognized. I hope you are able to find joy on Mother’s Day even if your experience is not celebrated on a greeting card.

Best wishes,

Cheryl
