Wow! My 4.5 year old, 2 year old and I just had our first visit to Alexander Airport Park and it was a blast.
Alexander Airport Park is located next to the Wausau Downtown Airport at 625 Lake View Dr, Wausau, WI 54403.
The park has a large structure with slides, stairs, a wiggly bridge, ladders, a climbing section, monkey bars and a zip line. The tower has some knobs and things for the kids to move around and underneath there is a flight map and other control tower type “controls”.
There are also other playground items throughout the park.
The swing set had swings for big kids, babies, those with special needs and a parent/baby swing.
Some of the areas were still under construction but they look like they’ll be fun.
The park also has a cool mounted Corsair Jet.
There is also a covered area with multiple picnic tables, adult fitness equipment, a path that looks like a runway circling the playground, a glider hill, and educational placards throughout the park. The one amenity that is lacking is a public restroom. I’m not sure if there are plans to add one, but it would definitely be a nice addition.
I’m looking forward to a return trip once everything is complete, and I’m sure my kids will be excited too.
