Located in an unassuming strip mall in Rib Mountain, is the hip new business Blades and Boards.
Blades and Boards offers hatchet throwing for couples, groups, and people interested in weekly league competitions. Families are welcome too, and there is even a discounted (or free) rate for kids. If you happen to get a bit thirsty or hungry, they have bottled beer, cider, soda, water, & snacks available for purchase. You can also order in food or even bring your own if you’d like.
After my husband, Greg, and I checked in, we were given a hatchet and walked over to our lane by the owner, Rachel. She showed us how to get started and gave us a quick demonstration. Then she let us loose.
This brings us to an important question: Have I ever thrown a hatchet before? The answer to this question is a definite “no”. I had ZERO experience going into this activity.
Thankfully Blades and Boards has people called “Axperts” who are there to help. Greg and I each threw the hatchet a few times (without much success) and the Axpert gave us suggestions of things to do differently.
My throws were honestly pretty hit or miss. (hahaha) But when I did throw well, this is what I could do!
Blades and Boards has some throwing game ideas hanging at each lane, which we used, and a white board for keeping score. Greg was much better than me and won all of our games, but I still had fun. Overall we both had a great experience! We went for a date night, but I think it would also be fun to go as a group or on a double-date.
I want to thank Blades and Boards for inviting me to review their hatchet throwing experience. Although our admission fees were generously waived, this in no way influenced my opinions in this review.
