Wunderfrau Interview: Michelle Phillips – Coach Sparkles

Michelle Phillips – Coach Sparkles

What do you do?

I help women break up with diets, appreciate their bodies and find fitness they LOVE! I do this by breaking traditional rules (examples: following strict food lists, meal plans, measuring and counting, doing boring exercise you can’t stand) and slowly incorporate nutrition habits into everyday life. My clients often report feeling less overwhelmed, a better sense of self, and body composition changes in the process.

What education, classes or training were helpful to you?

I am a certified personal trainer, Women’s Fitness specialist, Precision Nutrition graduate, and Zumba licensed. These have been immensely helpful in helping me find ways to coach women, however; my most helpful training comes from working with women directly. You cannot beat experience with textbook theory.

What do you like best about your job?

Oh gosh- everything. I think what I love the most is seeing women go from feeling guilty, overwhelmed and feeling like they have to do everything perfectly when it comes to their health; to learning how to find life long balance in their busy lives.

What advice would you give girls who want to get into your field?

Be brave, be bold, BE YOU.

In every profession it is hard not to compare yourself to others. We all have our gifts and unique story. Use yours to go for what you are passionate about.

Anything else we should know?

  • I have been teaching group fitness classes since college, and also took nutrition and coaching classes.
  • I’m married to “Lieutenant Stud Muffin” of the Wausau PD. We have 2 crazy kids and 2 furballs.
  • I love coffee, memes, mom life, game night, music, hiking, dates with Lt. Stud Muffin, laughing, and just HAVING FUN. I also bought my first bikini in 9 years!
Thank you Michelle Phillips!
